KYSPRA members Hillary Wright-Kaufman and Frank Shelton have been named to the National School Public Relations Association's (NSPRA) Class of 35 Under 35.
This is the fourth class NSPRA has announced honoring the up-and-coming leaders in the school public relations profession. More than 60 individuals were nominated for the 35 Under 35 designation which their press release says is the highest number of nominations since the program's inception. All of the honorees were 35 years old or younger by the August 1, 2018 deadline.
Wright-Kaufman, who is the Coordinator of Communications and Public Relations and Assistant to the Superintendent for Washington County Schools, was one of two Kentuckians named to the class. The other Kentuckian and KYSPRA member is Frank Shelton from Knox County Public Schools.
“I am truly honored to be recognized by such an esteemed organization as NSPRA," said Wright-Kaufman. "The Kentucky state affiliate of NSPRA – KYSPRA – has been an integral part of my development. Had I not joined the chapter, I would have never been exposed to NSPRA and all that this school public relations organization has to offer. I’m passionate about school public relations and look forward to continuing my growth in the profession.”
Shelton expressed his extreme gratitude for the career path carved for him beginning with his sophomore year at Knox County. "First, I give all of the praise to God who opened the door for my role in public relations," said Shelton. "The honor itself belongs to the students and staff of the Knox County Public Schools. Our kids are doing some amazing things, and it is a privilege to be able to spotlight and recognize their achievements."
Each honoree will have a Q&A feature in an upcoming NSPRA This Week (NTW). They will also receive a $100 discount for NSPRA's National Seminar in Washington, D.C. in July.
"While the faces of NSPRA are changing, the dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm for our profession remain the same," said Executive Director Rich Bagin, APR. "The insight of these 35 individuals is invaluable, and we look forward to seeing them grow in their careers."
